I love Kabir Khan’s intentions and his patriotism.
Right from Kabul Express to Newyork to Ek Tha Tiger to Bajrangi Bhaijaan and now Phantom.
Phantom was getting filmed before Bajrangi. The release was paused and they got on with Bajrangi instead. Probably an apt time to release an SK film. However, I enjoyed Bajrangi wayyyy more than Phantom. Maybe coz it had the real ‘Nawaaz’ and not Katrina Kaif named ‘Nawaaz’. No really! That’s her character’s name in Phantom.

Phantom is based on wishful thinking.
America got inside of Pak and killed the man who shouldn’t be named, what if we did the same to the culprits of the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai? Such a noble and provoking thought!

Saif was the chosen one. The Phantom! Who is assigned the job of eradicating all the masterminds of the attacks after 7 years, in 2015. It’s an unofficial mission and I was with Saif on every step. He’s so stylish, yet believable. I was the happiest when he took down Hedley. It actually was relieving, even though it isn’t a true story.

But post that the movie began losing its grip. Unfortunately for me, all the good ‘actors’ kept dying.
Zeeshan Ayyub as Samit was really convincing. That guy is an amaze actor and he proved it in this one too.

The best thing about Kabir Khan is how delicately and smartly he deals with religion. And he convinces you to love the good and distinguish the bad from it.

There’s this really catchy song ‘Afghan Jalebi’ in the second half at this really sweetΒ boy’s wedding. He’s naive, which makes him lovable. When he gets beaten up by a few cops, the pain in his wife’s eyes was more convincing than Katrina in the entire movie.

  1. Aaha, loving these movie takes of yours. Of late, have been missing out on most movies this year, will have to control myself for a couple of months more. One suggestion :- Also give ratings out out of 5,would be nice to compare it with mine coz even I write my views on the ones I watch:- No blogs though, I post on imdb, Mouthshut, fb & Twitter!!

Coming to Phantom, well, Saif & Katrina are a big reason for me to miss it even though I know the story would be worth it.

    Keep sharing your views. πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜„πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

    1. Not rating the movies is on purpose. I’m no critic and my intention isn’t to judge a movie, here. I just want to blabber about what I thought of it posting watching. I believe, every movie – good or bad, deserves to be watched.
Otherwise, film-makers can just watch their films on their laptops, why to go through the pain of releasing them to us, no? πŸ™‚

      1. Well, I totally agree in that sense. There are crores of people with different opinion of their own. Some like a movie, some don’t, that’s the way it is. But it should be watched for the efforts put in.

I also give my views but with a rating, we can never get into being a critic without qualifications. And one more thing :- I never go by reviews, if I want to watch a movie, I do, irrespective of its reviews. 😊
